Kalle Gustafsson is a Swedish artist, photographer and director. Renowned for his cinematic, nostalgic and effortlessly sophisticated style. His work blends natural light, warm tones and soft textures, often evoking a sense of timelessness and wanderlust. Throughout Gustafsson’s two-decade long career, his primary inspiration and theme has been love.
I first saw Gustafsson's photography during Paris Fashion Week 2009. His beautiful photographs adorned the lampposts surrounding the fashion tents. Since photography has been my own passion since childhood it is impressive to see a fellow Swede conquer the world of fashion photography at the level of Hans Hammarskiöld.
" I came to the conclusion that what people call your style is basically your inability to do it any other way" / Anton Corbijn
To me Gustafsson has mastered light, which makes him a multifaceted artist. His portfolio shows a wide range from fashion, animals, landscape, travel to portraits. Gustafsson mentioned that his theme is mainly love. Sadly love is not always positive. For me his subjects mainly show tenderness and vulnerability. As Brenee Brown states "Vulnerability is the birthplace of love, belonging, joy, courage, empathy, and creativity." - which I believe accurately defines both Gustafsson and his work. As I admire his photos I want to break the glass, enter the two-dimensional space and embrace his subjects.
A selection of the photos have been turned into collages of memories and love notes.
Welcome to see the collection until the 1st of December 2025 at Linnégatan 29, Stockholm. A selection of Kalles photography will stay in the gallery until futher notice. For more information and prices please contact us through email, josefina@mandaric.se
